Deadly Crash on Interstate 17 in New River
New River, Arizona: One person died in a traffic collision involving a big rig that happened early Saturday morning in New River, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
The incident happened at about 4 a.m. on Interstate 17, about a mile north of New River Road.
Authorities said a car slammed into the back of a big rig for an unknown reason.
Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical responded to the scene and pronounced the driver of the car dead at the scene.
Two other crashes occurred on the same freeway just hours earlier on Friday. One of them was fatal, and the other resulted in serious injuries.
