Deadly Crash Reported After Driver Runs Red Light at Long Beach Intersection

The Long Beach Police Department said the accident occurred around 7:35 a.m. at Wardlow Road and Palo Verde Avenue.
Investigators said a 2002 Toyota SUV was traveling eastbound on Wardlow Road when it ran a red light at Palo Verde Avenue and collided with a 2014 Toyota pickup truck heading southbound on Palo Verde on a green light.
The force of the impact caused the SUV to roll over and eject the driver.

The 41-year-old Lakewood woman driving the pickup truck stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Police said speed and distracted driving contributed to the collision.
