Deadly Multi-Car Crash on Goodfellow Avenue in Fresno County
Fresno County, California: A man died, and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday afternoon in Fresno County.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Goodfellow Avenue near Rio Vista Avenue, involving four vehicles.
The officers said a 26-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Silverado truck eastbound on Goodfellow Avenue, approaching slower-moving traffic. The woman realized she was about to hit the back of a Camry in the slow-moving traffic and swerved.
The truck, however, ended up hitting the back of the Camry and veered into the westbound lane directly into the path of an oncoming BMW 328i driven by a 58-year-old man. The BMW collided head-on with the Silverado.
A Hyundai Accent that was driving behind the Silverado then hit the truck.
Authorities said the driver of the BMW was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The drivers of the Silverado and the Hyundai were also hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries.
The Camry driver suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
Investigators said the woman driving the truck was possibly distracted, leading to the accident.
