Deadly Tesla Versus Subaru Crash in South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe, California: A 45-year-old man died, and five others were hospitalized after a traffic collision involving a Tesla and a Subaru that happened Wednesday afternoon in South Lake Tahoe.

The wreck occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Pioneer Trail at Fairmeadow Trail.

According to police, a Subaru Impreza was traveling at about 55 mph northbound on Pioneer just south of Fairmeadow.

At the same time, a Tesla Model 3 with five occupants was heading southbound at approximately 45 mph.

Authorities said for an unknown reason, the vehicles collided head-on.

The sole occupant and driver of the Subaru, only identified as a South Lake Tahoe resident, was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

All five occupants in the Tesla were hospitalized.

The 38-year-old driver was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital with major injuries.

A 3-year-old boy was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries.

A 6-year-old boy, a 24-year-old woman, and a 75-year-old man were taken to UCDMC with moderate injuries.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the accident.
