Douglas Smith Dies after Wallace Motorcycle Accident on Highway 12
Wallace, California (April 26, 2023) – Police have identified Douglas Smith Jr., 50, of Valley Springs as the man killed in a fatal collision on Saturday morning in Wallace, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The fatal collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. on April 24 on Highway 12 near Southworth Road.
Per the dispatch, Smith was heading west on Highway 12 in a 2021 Harley-Davidson when he slammed into an SUV, trying to make a left turn onto Southworth.
Smith suffered fatal injuries due to the collision.
Shawn Powers, 38, the SUV driver, sustained severe injuries due to the collision. Powers was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp for treatment.
No further details regarding this collision were released.
The incident remains under investigation.
