Driver Dies, Passenger Seriously Hurt in Rollover Collision on I-15 in Escondido
Escondido, California: A man died, and a woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision that happened Tuesday morning in Escondido.
The accident was reported around 6:35 a.m. on northbound Interstate 15 near Deer Springs Road.
Authorities said the collision involved a Ford F-150 and a Chevrolet Silverado.
The vehicles collided under unclear circumstances. The Ford spun out and came to a rest in the center divider while the Chevrolet veered to the right shoulder and overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels on the right shoulder.
The 19-year-old Murrieta man driving the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The 24-year-old Descanso man driving the Ford was not hurt.
Authorities ruled out intoxication as a contributing factor.
