Driver Killed After Slamming into Back of Semi-Truck on I-5 in Del Mar
Del Mar, California: One person died in a rear-end collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck that happened Thursday morning in Del Mar.
The accident was reported around 4:16 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Del Mar Heights Road.
CHP said a Toyota pickup truck crashed into the back of a semi-truck parked on the shoulder under unclear circumstances.
The pickup got wedged underneath the big rig with the driver trapped inside.
Firefighters responded to the scene and spent about an hour extricating the driver.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic lanes in the area were closed during an investigation.
