Driver Killed in Head-On Collision on SR-78 in Ramona Identified

Ramona, California: 63-year-old Mark Bunting died in a head-on collision that happened two weeks ago in Ramona, the San Diego County Medical Examiner said.

The wreck was reported around 3:30 p.m. on July 3 on State Route 78 near Salmon Road.

According to investigators, Burnt, a Ramona resident, was driving a Chevrolet S-10 westbound on SR-78 when he reportedly attempted to execute a left-hand turn onto Salmon Road and collided head-on with an Isuzu box truck traveling eastbound on SR-78.

Burnt was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 46-year-old El Cajon resident driving the box truck was not injured.

Both drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles.
