Robert Floyd Dies in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 84 in La Grande
Driver Killed in La Grande Crash on Interstate 84 Identified
La Grande, Oregon: Authorities identified the man who died in a multi-vehicle collision Wednesday morning on Interstate 84 in La Grande as Robert Floyd, 84, of North Powder.
The accident occurred just after 5 a.m. in the westbound lanes.
Three semi-trucks and a car were involved in the collision.
Authorities said a Volvo semi was traveling westbound when it lost control and overturned onto the passenger side.
Floyd was driving a Volkswagen Beetle and crashed into the overturned truck. He was ejected from his car in the crash.
A Freightliner semi-truck then slammed into the overturned Volvo, pushing it into the median of the interstate.
A third semi was also involved.
Floyd was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Freightliner driver was hospitalized for their injuries.
Westbound I-84 was completely shut down following the collision.
