Gregorio Dominguez Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 166 near Bonita School Road
Driver Killed in Santa Maria Crash on Christmas Day Identified
Santa Maria, California: The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver who died on Christmas Day in a head-on collision on Highway 126 as 65-year-old Gregorio Dominguez of Guadalupe.
27-year-old Bladimir Agustin-Chavez of Santa Maria was arrested following the collision.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 1:40 a.m. on December 25, Agustin-Chavez was driving a car eastbound on Highway 166, also known as W Main Street, when he crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with Dominguez’s car which was traveling westbound.
The crash happened between Bonita School Road and Simas Road.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated both drivers from the wreckage.
Dominguez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Agustin-Chavez sustained moderate injuries, including cuts to his legs and stomach. He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
