Man Riding E-Bike Hospitalized After Rear-Ending Car at Washington Street and Eighth Avenue in San Diego

E-Bike Rider Injured in San Diego Crash

San Diego, California: A man was injured when he rear-ended a car while riding his electric bike Saturday evening in San Diego, the San Diego Police Department said.

The crash occurred just after 7 p.m. near Washington Street and Eight Avenue.

Police said a 38-year-old woman was driving a 2014 Ford C-Max in the left lane of westbound Washington Avenue when she stopped for a red light at the intersection with Eighth Avenue.

A 47-year-old man riding an electric bike at a high rate of speed behind the vehicle crashed into the rear of the Ford.

The man sustained a broken right wrist and other injuries that required immediate surgery. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police did not believe alcohol was a contributing factor.
