Chula Vista, California – 67-year-old Eileen Crawford and 16-year-old Ryder Shoup were identified as the two people who were killed in a head-on collision early Wednesday morning in Chula Vista.
The fatal collision happened at around 3 a.m. on Interstate 5 near J Street.
Crawford was driving a Honda Civic northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway when he collided head-on with a Dodge Challenger driven by Shoup.
The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to burst into flames and both drivers were trapped inside.
Both Crawford and Shoup were pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident resulted in the closure of the southbound lanes for several hours.
