Elderly Woman Hit, Seriously Injured by Vehicle in San Diego

San Diego, California: An elderly woman suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car Sunday night in the Midway district.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. near the 3500 block of Midway Drive.

A 79-year-old woman was walking in the area when she got hit by a 2019 Dodge.

Police said the driver’s attention was drawn to a sign for the Broken Yolk restaurant.

When he directed his eyes back to the road, he slammed on the brakes and veered left to avoid a collision but ended up hitting the woman.

Emergency personnel responded and transported the victim to a hospital with a pelvic fracture and laceration to the head.

Alcohol and drugs were not considered contributing factors.
