Elisa Ornelas and Valentina Ornelas Killed in Gilroy Crash on Highway 152 near Lake Road

Gilroy, California – Authorities have identified two children who died in a car crash in Gilroy on Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 152 near Lake Road at around 7 a.m.

A Tesla tried to pass a tractor-trailer when it clipped its front and spun into oncoming traffic.

The Tesla then collided head-on with a Honda. Authorities say a total of five vehicles were involved in the collision.

7-year-old Elisa Ornelas and 4-year-old Valentina Ornelas, both of Morgan Hill, were riding in the Honda.

Elisa died at the accident scene while Valentina was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

A 1-year-old boy in the Honda and the Tesla driver were taken to the hospital for treatment of major injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
