JC Hernandez Adame Dies in San Diego Work Accident on East Harbor Drive
Employee Killed in Industrial Accident at General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego
San Diego, California: JC Hernandez Adame, 58, of San Diego, died in a work accident that happened Monday afternoon at the San Diego shipyard, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
Adame was on duty at the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) facility in the 2700 block of Harbor Drive when he encountered a work accident.
Authorities said the incident took place around 12:15 p.m., about five minutes after safety personnel conducted a walk-through at Adame’s workspace.
Adame’s coworkers heard a loud sound and Adame yelling for assistance and rushed to the location.
The coworkers found Adame lying on his back on the concrete floor with a steel foundation piece lying across his torso.
Multiple coworkers lifted the steel foundation off Adame and called 911.
Adame became unresponsive and the coworkers started resuscitative efforts before emergency personnel arrived and took over.
Despite the life-saving measures, Adame was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:53 p.m.
The Harbor Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident.
