Eric Cavaness Killed in San Diego Crash on 5 Freeway near Del Mar Heights Road
San Diego, California – Eric Cavaness, 39, has been identified as the man who died in a car crash last week Thursday near Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego.
The fatal collision was reported at around 4:15 a.m. on Interstate 5 Freeway near Del Mar Heights Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Westminster man was driving a silver Toyota Tundra southbound on the highway when he rear-ended a big rig.
The Toyota became wedged underneath the trailer and burst into flames.
Cavaness was extricated from the burning car and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
No other injuries were reported.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
