Galt School Bus Driver Hospitalized After Suspected DUI Collision

Galt, California: A school bus driver was hospitalized, and another driver was arrested after a school bus collided with a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon in Galt.

The accident was reported around 5:30 p.m. at A Street and Oak Avenue.

Authorities said a Galt Joint Union School District bus collided with a pickup truck at the intersection under unclear circumstances. 

A stop sign and a power pole were also struck, possibly cutting power supply to nearby homes.

The school bus driver experienced difficulties breathing after the collision. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The bus had 15 middle school students onboard at the time of the accident. None of the students was injured.

The pickup truck driver was arrested by California Highway Patrol officers on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

An investigation is ongoing.
