Girl Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Accident in Carlsbad, Joshua Weber Arrested

Carlsbad, California: 42-year-old Joshua Weber was arrested following a hit-and-run pedestrian accident that left a 15-year-old girl with serious injuries in Carlsbad.

The Carlsbad Police Department said the accident was reported around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chestnut Avenue and Highland Drive.

Police and firefighters responded to the scene and found the girl with serious injuries. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Weber, a resident of Winchester, California, was driving a vehicle southbound on Highland Drive and made a left turn to go eastbound on Chestnut Avenue when he hit the girl.

Police said Weber got out of the car, moved the pedestrian off the roadway into the sidewalk, and fled the scene before first responders arrived.

The suspect was later identified and arrested around 12:45 p.m. Thursday. He was booked into the San Diego County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
