Sutter County, California (April 29, 2023) – Gregory Allen Wood, 74, and Alicia Del Carmen Escobar, 69, have been identified as the people killed in a head-on collision on Wednesday evening in Chico, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at about 8:39 p.m. on April 27 on State Route 99 near Oswald Road.
Police said Wood was heading northbound on Highway 99 when he drove into the opposite lane and crashed head-on into an approaching 2016 Toyota RAV4.
Wood and the Toyota driver, Escobar, suffered fatal injuries from the collision.
The two victims and the sole occupants of their cars reportedly wore seatbelts at the time.
Further details regarding this collision were not released.
