Tolleson, Arizona (May 1, 2023) – Gwendolyn Brook Garcia, 19, of Avondale, has been identified as the woman killed in a car collision on Friday night in Tolleson, according to a police report.
The fatal crash occurred on 83rd Avenue and Buckeye Road before 9:00 p.m. on April 28.
Per the report, a big rig hauling a trailer had stopped at the red light at the junction when a vehicle failed to halt for the light and hit the trailer.
The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire, killing Garcia, the only occupant.
The semi’s driver was not injured in the accident.
Police did not suspect the truck driver to be impaired at the time.
No further details regarding this collision were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.

Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victims. The patients were taken to the hospital with major injuries.

Irvine, California: 65-year-old Kenneth Joseph McLeod died after he collided with a car while riding a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Irvine.
The accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at Alton Parkway and Foster.
Investigators said McLeod was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alton when he ran a red light at Foster and crashed into a Tesla turning left from northbound Alton onto westbound Foster.
The Tesla had a green light at the time of the crash.
McLeod died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Victorville, California: A woman riding a motorized wheelchair was injured when she was hit by a car Thursday morning at an intersection in Victorville.
The accident was reported around 8:48 a.m. at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.
Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man driving a black Nissan was found at the scene but it was not clear if he was the driver involved in the accident.
