Jennie Gomez Arrested for DUI, Hit-and-Run After 2 Crashes on Highway 50 in El Dorado County
Highway 50 Car Crash Sends One to Hospital, Another Behind Bars
El Dorado County, California: One person was airlifted to the hospital, and another was arrested after two collisions that happened Thursday morning in El Dorado County.
Around 10:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers were informed about a collision on Highway 50 about one and a half miles east of Kyburz.
The officers responded to the scene and discovered that two crashes occurred on the westbound lanes of Highway 50.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Jennie Gomez, 29, of Sacramento, was driving a Toyota Corolla when she collided with a red Dodge Ram and drove off.
Gomez traveled about three miles down the highway from the collision scene and then hit a Subaru Forester head-on.
The second crash sent the Forester driver to the hospital by air ambulance.
Gomez exited her car after the head-on collision and fled on foot. Officers located her nearby and arrested her. She was expected to be charged with DUI and hit-and-run.
The highway was closed for several hours during an investigation.
