Hinga Benson Killed in Chula Vista Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway near Palomar Street
San Diego, California – 39-year-old Hinga Benson has been identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as the man who died after being struck by a car in Chula Vista on Monday night.
The fatal collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 5 Freeway near Palomar Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Benson was standing outside a Honda Civic that had broken down on the southbound side of the freeway when several vehicles struck it.
One of the cars reportedly struck Benson, killing him at the scene.
Authorities do not believe intoxication was a factor in the accident.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
