Innocent Driver Dies Weeks After Police Pursuit Ended in Long Beach Crash Last Year

Long Beach, California: Pedro Barrera died more than a month after he was critically injured in a crash involving a driver suspected of driving a stolen vehicle that happened last year in Long Beach.

Barrera’s family, on a GoFundMe page, said their loved one died after fighting for over 6 weeks at the hospital where he was receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the collision.

Barrera was hospitalized in critical condition and lost his left arm in the fiery collision that occurred around 3 p.m. on November 24, 2023.

Police were chasing a Dodge Charger suspected of being stolen when the driver slammed into Barrera’s white truck as he was turning left at Artesia and Long Beach boulevards.

Both vehicles went out of control and crashed into a traffic pole, downing it.

The pursuit suspect was hospitalized with injuries and later arrested.
