Goodyear, Arizona – The 38-year-old Jacob Vela has been identified as the rider killed in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday in Goodyear.
According to a police report, the deadly collision happened on October 23, on Estrella Parkway and Fillmore Street.
The patrol car entered the junction with its lights and sirens on when Vela’s motorcycle entered the junction against a red light and struck the patrol vehicle.
Vela was not wearing a helmet at the time. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
The officer in the patrol car sustained minor injuries due to the collision.
Authorities believed failure to yield to an emergency car and speed played a role in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.

Sacramento County, California: Two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon at an intersection in Antelope.
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire District, the accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. at Antelope and Roseville roads.
Three vehicles collided, trapping two occupants in the wreckage.
Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victims. The patients were taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

Irvine, California: 65-year-old Kenneth Joseph McLeod died after he collided with a car while riding a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Irvine.
The accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at Alton Parkway and Foster.
Investigators said McLeod was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alton when he ran a red light at Foster and crashed into a Tesla turning left from northbound Alton onto westbound Foster.
The Tesla had a green light at the time of the crash.
McLeod died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Victorville, California: A woman riding a motorized wheelchair was injured when she was hit by a car Thursday morning at an intersection in Victorville.
The accident was reported around 8:48 a.m. at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.
Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man driving a black Nissan was found at the scene but it was not clear if he was the driver involved in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
