Martinez, California (May 13, 2023) – 49-year-old Jeremiah Smeby of Antioch, and 18-year-old Diana Zuniga of San Pablo were killed after a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday night in Martinez.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on May 9, on Highway 4, between the Morello and Center Avenue exits.
Police said Zuniga was heading west on Highway 4 in a gray Honda Civic when she crashed into a westbound white Toyota driven by Smeby.
Following the collision, the two cars went down an embankment and crashed into trees.
Zuniga suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash site.
Further details concerning this collision were not released.
The incident remains under investigation.
