Jorge Loera Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 near Merle Haggard Dr.
Bakersfield, California – 42-year-old Jorge Humberto Loera of McFarland has been identified as the man who was fatally struck by a car on Highway 99 in Bakersfield on Christmas Day.
The deadly collision happened on Highway 99, north of Merle Haggard Drive at around 8:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Loera was previously driving a Hyundai and was involved in the two-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 99.
Loera got out of the Hyundai and began to run across Highway 99 and was hit and killed by a passing vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Kern Medical with moderate injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
