Jorge Soriano and LAPD Officer Killed in Northridge Crash on Roscoe Boulevard

Los Angeles, California (November 9, 2023) – Jorge Soriano, 31, has been identified as a passenger who died in a collision that also claimed the life of an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer in Northridge on Saturday.

The double-fatal crash happened on 18101 W. Roscoe Blvd., near the intersection with Lindley Avenue, at 1:19 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A black four-door BMW driven by a 20-year-old driver allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into LAPD Officer Darrell Cunningham’s car.

Darrell and Soriano were in the same car and were both pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the second car was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
