Ventura, California – A 64-year-old was killed in a bicycle accident that happened on Thursday morning in Ventura.

According to the Ventura Police Department, the accident happened around 10 a.m. on Telegraph Road near Joanne Avenue, the area near the Five Points intersection.

Jose Campos Estrada, of Goleta, was riding a bicycle westbound in the area and was struck by a Ventura County Transportation Commission bus also traveling westbound.

The man fell and was run over by the rear wheels.

The man suffered major injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.

More details about the accident were not released.

The 33-year-old bus driver from Oxnard left the scene of the crash but was later located and arrested. He has since been released from jail on bond.
