Joseph Gonzalez Killed in Merced Crash at Highway 59 and Rahilly Road
Merced, California – 20-year-old Joseph Gonzalez, of Fresno, was killed in a car accident on December 26 in Merced.
The fatal auto-pedestrian accident happened around 10:47 a.m. in the area of Highway 59 and Rahilly Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities say Gonzalez was driving a 2019 Jeep SUV south on Highway 59 when he drifted into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2020 Freightliner box truck.
Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The 54-year-old Fresno man driving the box truck was unhurt.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.

Santa Maria, California: One person was seriously injured in a traffic collision that happened Friday morning in Santa Maria.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred around 5:42 a.m. in the 1599 block of East Betteravia Road.
A red Nissan sedan and a white sedan were involved in the crash.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and found one person with major injuries. The patient was hospitalized in unknown condition.
CHP officers are investigating the accident.

Orangevale, California – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that left a bicyclist dead on Thursday afternoon in Orangevale.
The deadly crash happened at the intersection of Elm and Beach avenues at around 4:30 a.m., according to the police.
The man was riding the electric bicycle heading south on Beech Avenue approaching Elm Avenue while a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Elm Avenue.
Both the bicyclist and the driver entered the intersection at the same time and collided.
The bicyclist was killed in the crash.
The pickup driver was not injured and stayed at the scene after the crash.
More details regarding the accident were not provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The man reportedly ran across the highway directly in front of a car and was hit.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the man was not immediately disclosed
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
