Juan Bautista Killed in Byron Car Crash on Vasco Road

Contra Costa, California – Juan Rafael Bautista, 47, of Pittsburg, has been identified as the man who was killed in a car crash in on Wednesday afternoon near Byron.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 2 p.m. on Vasco Road south of Camino Diablo.

Bautista was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck northbound on Vasco Road when a southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck drifted into the northbound lanes and the two vehicles collided head-on.

The impact of the collision caused the Dodge Ram to overturn and was stuck by a northbound Chevrolet Express.

Bautista was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the Dodge was hospitalized with major injuries.

A passenger in the Dodge and the Chevy driver suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital by ground ambulance.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
