Juan Carranza Killed in Santa Cruz Motorcycle Accident on Highway 1

Santa Cruz, California – Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a collision on Wednesday evening in Santa Cruz.

At around 6:16 p.m. on June 7, the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a motorcycle accident on Highway 1 near Dimeo Road.

34-year-old Juan Manuel Maldonado Carranza was riding a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound and was attempting to pass traffic when he drifted into the northbound lane and collided with a 2001 Toyota Solara that was making a left turn into a private driveway.

Juan was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The 50-year-old woman driving the Toyota was unhurt.

Alcohol and/or drugs were not considered to be a factor in this crash.

Additional information about the accident was not provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
