Julio Leiva Killed in Homeland Pedestrian Accident on SR 74
Homeland, California – A man who died after being struck by a car on Sunday evening in Homeland has been identified as 75-year-old Julio Leiva.
The auto-pedestrian accident happened on the westbound Highway 74 near Leon Road at around 6 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Leiva was walking in the area when he was struck by a Toyota Camry.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene pronounced the Homeland resident dead at the scene.
Authorities say the Toyota Camry was traveling at speeds above the 25 mph posted speed limit when the accident happened.
The driver was not injured and stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the authorities.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
