43-Year-Old Kellie Rivera Dies after Driver Runs Stop Sign at Fargo Avenue and 13th Avenue in Hanford
Kellie Rivera Killed in Hanford Car Accident
Hanford, California: 43-year-old Kellie Rivera was the woman who died in a suspected DUI accident that happened early Sunday morning in Hanford.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after midnight at Fargo Avenue and 13th Avenue.
Kellie was driving her car north on 13th Avenue when she entered the intersection with Fargo Avenue after making a full stop.
Authorities said 35-year-old Philip Andrew Macias Chavez failed to stop at the intersection and collided with Kellie.
Kellie died at the scene.
Macias Chavez was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
According to CHP, the driver was speeding prior to the crash, and he was probably driving under the influence. Jail records show he has a prior DUI conviction. He was expected to face murder charges when discharged from the hospital.
