Kern County Coroner Identifies Man Killed in Highway 178 Motorcycle Crash in Weldon

Kern County, California: The Kern County Coroner’s Office released the name of the motorcyclist who died in a traffic collision in Weldon as Christopher James Brewer.

The 37-year-old Weldon man was involved in the collision at around 8:50 p.m. on May 14 on Highway 178, west of Powers Lane.

The collision involved Brewer’s 2001 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2011 Dodge.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the Dodge was traveling westbound on the highway, slowing to make a left turn into a driveway.

At the same time, Brewer was heading westbound, overtaking the Dodge and two other cars behind it.

As the motorcyclist started passing the cars at a high rate of speed, he collided with the left front of the Dodge.

The force of the impact sent Brewer off the bike, sustaining serious injuries. He died from his injuries a short time after the accident.
