Kevin Ouda Taken Off Life Support After Pedestrian Accident in El Cajon

El Cajon, California: 11-year-old Kevin Ouda, a martial arts student at local gym Pure Heart Muay Thai, was taken off of life support Sunday about a week after he was hit by a car while jogging in El Cajon.

According to a social media post by the local gym, Kevin’s family decided to remove him from life support.

In the morning hours of December 21, Kevin was running with teammates when he was struck by a vehicle on North First Street. His coach said during the run, a dog lunged at the group of boys and Kevin jumped into the street to avoid it but got hit by a passing car.

The boy was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was placed on life support.

Kevin was removed from life support a little after 2 p.m. Sunday, following a decision by his family, as per the Pure Heart Muay Thai social media post.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
