The La Mirada man succumbed to his injuries as medics ferried him to the Santa Ysabel, where he was to be flown to the hospital.
The Mission Viejo man was transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
The pickup driver, a 38-year-old man from San Diego, and his passenger were unhurt in the accident.
