Lake County Sheriff’s Office Identifies 2 Women Killed in Head-On Collision

Lake County, California: The Lake County Sheriff’s Office identified the two women who died in a head-on collision last month on Highway 20.

Lisa Lopez, 26, of Lakeport, and Kimberly Renee Mitchell, 28, of Redwood Valley, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred around 8:50 p.m. just west of Bachelor Valley Road.

Authorities said Lopez was driving a Nissan Cube east on the highway when, for some reason, the car drifted over the double yellow lines into opposing traffic.

The Nissan collided head-on with Mitchell’s westbound Honda Civic.

Responding CHP officers and medical personnel pronounced both drivers dead at the scene. They were the only occupants of the vehicles.

Two other cars ran over debris from the crash. One of them sustained a flat tire.
