Leopoldo Barajas Struck and Killed by Car on Ulysses Street in Simi Valley

Simi Valley, California – The Simi Valley Police Department has identified 81-year-old Leopoldo Barajas of Simi Valley as the person killed in a pedestrian accident on Tuesday evening in Simi Valley.

The fatal crash happened at around 5:20 p.m. on June 18 on Ulysses Street and Socrates Avenue.

Officials said Barajas was trying to cross the intersection when he was struck by a white BMW SUV that was turning onto Ulysses Street from Socrates Avenue.

Barajas was reportedly in a crosswalk when the collision happened.

He was rushed to a trauma center where he died.

The driver did not sustain injuries. The motorist remained at the crash site due to the accident.

Authorities did not suspect impairment to have contributed to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
