Man, Child Hospitalized After Semi-Truck Accident in Sunnyside
Sunnyside, Washington: 32-year-old Omar Olivio, of Richland, and a child were hospitalized after a traffic collision involving a semi-truck that happened Monday evening in Sunnyside.
The accident took place around 5:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 82 near milepost 71.
According to investigators, a semi-truck slowed down for stopped traffic at an area where a collision had occurred earlier, shutting down I-82 due to power lines in both traffic lanes.
Olivio did not slow down on time and hit the semi-truck.
Authorities said Olivio may have possibly been drowsy or fell asleep just before the collision.
Olivio and a child in the car were hospitalized in unknown conditions.
Investigators said Olivio is facing a possible charge of negligent driving.
