Man Dies at Hospital After Car Crash on South Edison and Herring Roads in Bakersfield
Bakersfield, California: A 40-year-old man died after a traffic collision that happened Friday morning in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash was reported around 5:43 a.m. at South Edison Road and Herring Road, southwest of Arvin.
The crash involved a 2007 Toyota Corolla and a 2023 Toyota Tacoma.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 24-year-old Arvin man was driving the Corolla southbound on South Edison Road, slowing for a stop sign at the north/south controlled intersection with Herring Road.
At the same time, a 59-year-old Arvin man was driving the Tacoma westbound on Herring Road at about 55 mph, approaching South Edison Road. There are no stop signs at the intersection with South Edison Road.
Authorities said the driver of the Corolla failed to stop at the stop sign but slowed down to about 10-15 mph and proceeded to enter the intersection directly in front of the pickup truck.
The front of the Tacoma hit the left side of the Corolla.
The crash left the 40-year-old Arvin man seated in the left rear passenger seat of the Corolla with severe injuries. He was hospitalized at Kern Medical.
Both drivers and several passengers in both vehicles were taken to Adventist Health and Kern Medical with minor to moderate injuries.
Authorities said the 40-year-old Arvin man later died from his injuries the same day while receiving treatment at the hospital.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.

2 People Seriously Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Antelope
Sacramento County, California: Two people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Thursday afternoon at an intersection in Antelope.
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire District, the accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. at Antelope and Roseville roads.
Three vehicles collided, trapping two occupants in the wreckage.
Firefighters responded to the scene and freed the victims. The patients were taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
65-Year-Old Kenneth Joseph McLeod Dies in Irvine Crash at Alton Parkway and Foster
Kenneth Joseph McLeod Killed in Irvine Motorcycle Accident
Irvine, California: 65-year-old Kenneth Joseph McLeod died after he collided with a car while riding a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in Irvine.
The accident was reported around 4:50 p.m. at Alton Parkway and Foster.
Investigators said McLeod was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alton when he ran a red light at Foster and crashed into a Tesla turning left from northbound Alton onto westbound Foster.
The Tesla had a green light at the time of the crash.
McLeod died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Woman Hospitalized After Victorville Pedestrian Accident at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road
Woman on Motorized Wheelchair Hit and Injured by Car in Victorville
Victorville, California: A woman riding a motorized wheelchair was injured when she was hit by a car Thursday morning at an intersection in Victorville.
The accident was reported around 8:48 a.m. at Roy Rogers Drive and Amargosa Road.
Victorville police, firefighters, and AMR responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
A man driving a black Nissan was found at the scene but it was not clear if he was the driver involved in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
