Desert Hot Springs, California: A man died Wednesday after his car collided with another vehicle on Highway 62 in Desert Hot Springs, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident involved a Toyota Yaris and a Lincoln SUV at the intersection of Indian Canyon Drive.

Investigators said the man who died had been driving the Toyota westbound on the highway when, for an unknown reason, he crashed into the back of the Lincoln.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was a Twentynine Palms resident born in 1955.

Four people occupied the Lincoln at the time of the crash. One of them, a female seated in the left rear passenger seat, complained of pain but was not hospitalized.
