Man Dies, Several Others Injured in Woodburn Car Crash on Hwy 214
Woodburn, Oregon: 33-year-old Aristotle Vargas died, and several others were hurt in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Monday afternoon in Woodburn.
According to Woodburn police, the incident was reported at about 3 p.m. on Highway 214 near Astor Way.
Police said Vargas was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis east on the highway when the car struck a Toyota Tacoma and kept going through the intersection at North Settlemier Avenue.
Authorities said the Mercury then crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a FedEx truck in the rear on the driver’s side, causing the truck to overturn onto its side in the middle of the road.
The Mercury then collided head-on into an oncoming Buick Acadia.
First responders had to pull Vargas from his car and airlift him to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Two adults and a minor in the Buick, as well as the driver of the Toyota, were hospitalized for their injuries. They are all expected to recover.
The driver of the FedEx truck suffered injuries that did not require hospitalization.
Authorities are investigating the accident.

Fresno, California: At least one person died in a traffic collision that happened Tuesday morning near an intersection in Fresno.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck took place around 11:04 a.m. near W Dinuba and S West avenues.
Two vehicles were involved in the accident, including a white Nissan Altima.
An occupant of one of the cars got out and lied under a tree after the collision.
Emergency person responding to the scene said at least one person died in the accident.
Authorities did not immediately determine the cause of the crash, but an investigation is ongoing.

Glendale, Arizona: Two people died in a two-vehicle collision that happened early Tuesday morning near Apollo High School.
According to Glendale police, the wreck occurred around 4 a.m. near 47th and Northern avenues.
Two vehicles collided under unclear circumstances. One went through a school fence and stopped on the school property.
A man and a woman in one of the cars suffered life-threatening injuries. They both later died while receiving treatment.
One occupant in the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Investigators closed Northern Avenue between 43rd and 51st avenues for several hours following the accident.
Driver Dies, Another Hospitalized After T-Bone Collision at Challenger Way and Avenue H-4

Lancaster, California: One person died, and another was hospitalized after a traffic collision that happened Monday night at an intersection in Lancaster.
Police said the wreck was reported around 10:40 p.m. at Challenger Way and Avenue H-4.
The driver of a sedan was traveling northbound on Challenger Way when they abruptly turned to the left and T-boned an SUV going southbound on Challenger Way.
The driver of the sedan died at the scene. The victim was not wearing their seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The SUV driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers were the only occupants of the cars.
Authorities did not immediately determine the factors that contributed to the crash.
