Man Ejected from Pickup Truck, Killed During Fresno County Crash

Fresno County, California: A man died, and a woman was hospitalized after a fiery collision involving a pickup truck and a big rig that happened Tuesday morning in Fresno County.

Authorities said the weather was foggy when, around 9:30 a.m., a collision occurred at Parlier Avenue and McCall Avenue.

An initial investigation revealed that a man was driving a pickup truck with a woman as his passenger westbound on Parlier Avenue approaching a stop sign near the intersection.

At the same time, a big rig hauling a flatbed was headed northbound on McCall Avenue approaching the same intersection.

The big rig had the right of way and continued to enter the intersection. The pickup truck driver pulled out of the stop and also entered the intersection.

The right front of the semi-truck collided with the front of the pickup truck, dragging it out 100 ft. through the intersection.

The man driving the pickup truck was ejected during the crash.

The pickup truck caught fire and became engulfed in flames. Cal Fire responded to the scene and put out the fire.

The firefighters pronounced the man driving the pickup truck dead at the scene.

His female passenger was pulled from the wreckage by a passing motorist. She was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The semi-truck driver was not hurt and cooperated with investigators.

Foggy weather is considered a factor contributing to the accident, with visibility reaching less than 100 ft.
