Man Fatally Hit by Multiple Vehicles on Hwy 99 in Merced
Merced, California: A 36-year-old man died after he was struck by multiple vehicles Wednesday night in Merced, authorities said.
The accident was reported around 9:18 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 near Sultana drive.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene shortly after the collision.
The officers learned that a 36-year-old pedestrian was first hit by a 2020 Ford van driven by a 33-year-old man from Kent, Washington. The driver had swerved to the left to avoid hitting the pedestrian but the right front and side of the Ford struck the victim. Several other vehicles then hit the pedestrian.
The pedestrian died in the accident.
The crash is under investigation.
