Man Hit and Killed by Car in Mendocino County Identified
Mendocino County, California: The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office identified the man who died after being struck by a car early Saturday morning on Highway 101 as Gary Baughn, 81, of San Jose.
The incident happened around 4 a.m. on October 11.
Investigators said Baughn was driving a Toyota Tacoma north on the highway when, for an unknown reason, he crossed into the southbound side and came to a stop.
A passing Subaru swerved to avoid hitting the pickup truck but instead struck Baughn, who had exited his vehicle.
First responders pronounced Baughn dead at the scene.
Investigators said the road was wet and foggy at the time of the accident.
