Man in Wheelchair Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Kern Canyon Road
Bakersfield, California – A man has died after being struck by a car as he rode a wheelchair in Bakersfield earlier this month.
The accident happened on Kern Canyon Road just west of Shalane Avenue at around 6:13 p.m. on November 2, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 66-year-old Bakersfield man in a wheelchair was crossing Kern Canyon Road when he was struck by a 2015 Nissan driven by 19-year-old Gustavo Gabriel Lopez, of Bakersfield.
The man was ejected from the wheelchair and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, November 11.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
