Man Killed after Police Pursuit Ends in Crash in Modesto

Modesto, California: A 40-year-old man died, and three others were injured when a police chase ended in a traffic collision Monday afternoon in Modesto.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office said the crash took place around 3:35 p.m. on Crows Landing Road near South 7th Street.

Sheriff’s deputies started a police chase in the area after they conducted a traffic stop for a man wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, dissuading a witness, and another warrant for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.

The suspect fled and ended up hitting another car occupied by a man, a woman, and a 6-year-old boy.

The 40-year-old suspect was killed in the crash.

The three occupants in the other car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
