Man Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Oak Street and 24th Street Identified

Bakersfield, California: 48-year-old Chad Anthony Jacques of Bakersfield was the pedestrian who died in a collision that happened on the fourth of July in Bakersfield, the Kern County Coroner’s Office said.

The crash was reported around 8:39 p.m. on July 4 on Oak Street and 24th Street.

According to Bakersfield police, a driver was traveling northbound on Oak Street when he failed an eastbound turn onto 24th Street and struck Jacques who was on the center divider.

The car then continued and hit at least three other vehicles before coming to a stop.

Jacques sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the drivers involved was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The driver who hit the pedestrian was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.
