Man Killed in Coalinga Car Crash on 5 Freeway near Jayne Avenue

Coalinga, California – A man was killed in a collision involving a semi-truck on a freeway in Coalinga on Monday night.

The fatal crash happened on the 5 Freeway near Jayne Avenue at around 11 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 74-year-old man from Myrtle Point, Oregon, was working on his disabled vehicle on the shoulder of the freeway and was hit by a semi-truck driven by 31-year-old Fernando Flores-Roman of Bakersfield.

The man was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The name of the victim was not disclosed.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash.
