Man Killed in Compton Crash on East Rosecrans Avenue
Compton, California – A man died after being hit by an SUV as he slept on a bus stop bench in Compton early Thursday morning.
The fatal crash happened at around 2:30 a.m. in the 2200 Block of East Rosecrans Avenue near North Harris Avenue.
An SUV was traveling eastbound on Rosecrans when it lost control, struck a tree and a bus stop before crashing into a fire hydrant.
A man sleeping on the bus stop bench was struck by the SUV and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
A female passenger in the SUV was hospitalized with major injuries.
The male driver of the SUV was detained by the deputies.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
